Every year for as long as I was born, maybe even before, my grandparents, aunt and uncles on my mom's side, and my immediate family would go to my grandparents house and open gifts from them on either the day before or the day after Christmas. After I learned that Kwanzaa took place on the 26th and on the years we celebrated on the 26th, I'd wish everyone a merry Kwanzaa, even though we don't celebrate. Well as tradition dictates, we went to the McDonald's by their house for lunch "to allow time for Santa Clause to come." Don't deny that you never believed, unless your family is lame or you aren't christian. JK your family is all right, but there isn't some of the magic that comes with Christmas if a child doesn't believe. Back to the festivities. In years past, my cousin, brother and I would all open presents and because we were young and easy, we all got the same exact thing. But now that isn't the case. We all have different tastes and my cousin is on the other side of the country. Lets see, this year I got Sonic Generations, a Popeye shirt, 2 dollar bills, candy, a medicham figure, one of the gold buffalo coins, this Beard hat thing, and some other stuff I'm forgetting. There wasn't a TV or anything other super exciting that we got my grandpa this year. We got him All in the Family : Fan Favorites, a DVD that he doesn't know how to play. I need to show him because he loves that show.
Here are pictures of my fun.
Not actual day but don't have permission from those in the pictures. This is the hat thing.
Fun fun. Since my aunt moved, we now host Christmas with the family on Christmas day at our house by default. My grandparents, their good friends whose son used to be married to my aunt, their other son, my mom's friends, and my cousin and her family whom I'll talk about later, all came to celebrate Christmas with us and have a nice Christmas dinner. Not many gifts are exchanged then. Typically just some stuff between us who weren't with each other at other opportunities. This was fun. My cousin whom I rarely see because her family lives close to the other side of the state or something came this year. It's fun hanging out with her because we both are geeks. We love old school video games, Pokemon, and other things. She's never seen A Christmas Story and with TBS showing it 12 times over a 24 hour period, we watched it. When we had to go eat dinner and do some exchanging of presents, we came back and caught back up with where we left off 2 hours later. It was fun. Typically we'll have ham and turkey, of which isn't universal because some can't have ham due to the salt or something and some of us just don't like turkey. This year we had Pork loin, and it was really good. Our dinning room table isn't big enough for all of us even with the leaf, so kids at the kids table. Sure we're all teens and technically I'm an adult, but we're definitely not like the adults in their 40s and 70s.
I sent out a mass text to all my friends and contacts wishing them a merry Christmas and watch an airing of a Christmas story on TBS. Good fun. I'll talk about other fun with Christmas that I'll have in the coming days, but until then, this has been Pokematic signing off and bu-bye.
