House sitting on the farm

Hey everyone, man is this cool. Last weekend I house sat for my aunt who lives 20 minutes away from my college. Now this may not be so interesting, except that my aunt's house is awesome. Let me paint a picture.

It's out in farm country. There is a big electic fence surounding the property. I didn't measure it out, but I think the property was about an acre or some large plot. In the middle, is a yellow house. There is a long circle driveway leading up to it. In the middle of the circle driveway is a flagpole with old glory flying proudly. Around back there is a small barn with a caral with 4 horses. There is another driveway leading up to the garage. The house is not small, at least relative to my eye and I live in a small dorm room.

I felt as if I were in a movie. I won't go into much detail on the interior because it isn't all that interesting. Think "old fashion decore meets moddern conviencences." But here's one thing. The living room, was larger than my dorm room. I could have lived in there for the weekend and I'd have felt open.

So now that the visuals are done, now for some story stuff. Well when my aunt picked me up, showed me around, and told me how to take care of the animals I was incharge of. She took me out to dinner, and I had ribs. That was so good. After eating burgers, fries, hotdogs, waffles, and other dorm food, those ribs were amazing. She left the next morning leaving me incharge of the 2 dogs and cat. I had writen instructions and did everything the night before. It took some time for the animals to warm up to me, but they did and it was all fine.

What I primarily did was homework. I had this writen assignment for a class that I planned on doing that weekend since I'd be away from the noise and distractions of dorms. I did get it all done, but it took me both days since I had some writers block on Sturday. During that time I went outside and took a little walk. Looked around and saw all the interesting things. Went over to look at the horses, but kept at a distance that I felt safe at. Here is what I know about horses; don't do somethign that might spook them like sudden movement, and I don't know proper handling so look but don't touch. It was interesting because I got maybe within 5ft of the coral and just stood there. There were 4 horses, 3 adult and 1 young. Who I will refer to as the alpha horse, came over first to test to see what I was doing. After the they noted that I wasn't a threat, the other 2 adults came over with the young sheilded from me behind them. Once they felt comfortable, the young peered through to get a look at me. It was quite interesting.

Well asside from that not much else happened. I ate pizza for dinner last night and left over pizza for breakfast. I did a couple loads of laundry there since it's free. Watched Hey Arnold, 2001 a space odysse, Fat Head, and Jeff Dunham Christmas special on Netflix. Showered in a nice shower. Did homework. Well until next time, this has been Pokematic signing off and bu-bye.

PS: If you have Netflix, watch Fat Head. If your local video store, assuming you still have one, has Fat Head, rent it now. If you have some other way of LEAGALLY watching it, go watch it. Bassically this guy goes on a McDiet but loses weight and turns nutrition as we know it on it's head. Here's a link to buy it if you trust me enough bassed on this mini synopsis.

Lots of cars today

Hey everyone, there were a lot of cars in my day today, or at least they played a semi-important part in it. Well first I will talk about the first instance. Well this weekend is the big game between us and our biggest rival. As a fund raiser for something, there was a car bash with our rivals colors and initials on it. There was the option of $1 for 30 seconds with a sledge humor, $1 for 30 seconds with a sousaphone, or $2 for 1 minute. I saw some people do the sousaphone, but I did sledge. I don't think I did much but did put a few dings in it. I saw one guy climb on top and start beating the roof. His sledge got stuck and he called a time out. I had on my typical safety vest, but then had to wear protective gloves, a hard hat, and protective goggles. I looked like I came from the construction set next door.

Well now for the the second time with cars, and the reason why I am still up at 5 am. There is a driving service provided for free on a donation basis. I volunteered for a shift since it counts for the service hours I need for the honors college. Well it runs from 11pm-3-am but will go over if we still have calls in the cue. Well I got there, did the refresher training course, and drove around while my navigator told me where to go. I have some funny stories. I won't tell anything that the patrons said because that would violate our confidentiality, but I will talk about some of the crazy things that weren't patron related. Well because we use rental cars, I wasn't used to how the car was. Unknown to me, this was a car where I had to turn on the lights manually. My car back home has auto lights, and since I don't usually travel at night, I didn't realise that my lights were off. I drove around for maybe 50 minutes without my lights on. I think some people were trying to tell me that they were off, but I didn't recognise the signals. Eventually a police officer told me that my lights were off and that I need to have them on. Fumbling around trying to figure out how to turn them on, and since it was a big game weekend with a lot of parties, he asked if I was the sober one. I answered yes and said that it's a rental. Since I wasn't drunk or MIP, or some other crime typically accosted with college partying, and since he was on foot and I wasn't going really fast and was in residential, ho ticket, no licence check, just make sure lights are on.

So a little while after that, a couple of college kids knocked on our door and asked for a ride. More of a joke probably. Either way they didn't get the ride. Now here's a kind of funny thing. These guys car stalled and 5 guys got out and started to push. Now it wouldn't have been so funny if they didn't have their pants half-way off in the "gangsta" style. So 5 guys with their pants half off are all pushing this SUV over train tracks and through an intersection. If they just pulled their pants up it wouldn't have struggled so much. This was definitely a had to be there moment to fully get, but figure it was good enough to at least mention.

So now for probably the funniest part. So we get to this place to pick up some one. We're looking for our client, but while doing the searching, a guy asks us if they were towing since they needed a place to park and there was no parking spaces. I answer that I don't know. Well 2 other times we went to the same place and I think the same guy asked about parking. Once some guy kept asking if they were towing and we kept saying, "we don't know." It was probably because we had a light on the top of our car and the fact that I had a safety vest on. By now I am used to people thinking I have some kind of authority due to the vest. Just gets annoying when they don't leave me alone after I say "I don't work here." Funny.

Well I'm about to fully crash. Until next time, this has been Pokematic signnilllllging oooooofffff and bubye. Sorry my right ring finger likes to spasm whennnnn immmmmm reallllly tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Loads of free crap bash

Hey everyone, I had a great 2 hours from 3-5.

Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm talking about Bronco Bash, or as I call "loads of free crap" bash. As my nickname implies, there is a lot of free stuff. A lot of it is fliers for various organizations and businesses. The main reason is to promote themselves through free stuff. Some of those fliers are worth wile, and others are not. But hey, it's free.

But then there is stuff free stuff.
  • In the world of writing utensils, I got 9 new pens, 1 pencil, and 1 highlighter.
  • 3 plastic cups.
  • Metro PCS mouse pad.
  • 2 free key chains.
  • 2 "beer pong" pin-pong balls. Won't be using those for their promoted use.
  • 2 free planners, making my grand total 4 planners.
  • Some free candy.
  • Some bank gave me a free thing of ramen.
  • A free sample of Crew 3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
  • 7 magnets
  • $1 coupons for the local video store. Yes they still exist.
  • A pin for a free driving service.
  • A windshield ice scraper.
  • An aluminum water bottle
  • Coupons and coupon books
  • Codes for free games or something through psn. Wonder if it'll work with my psp
  • Stickers
  • A book of matches
  • A kazoo
  • Sticky notes
  • Chop Sticks
  • A memo pad
  • Some literature on pro-life
  • 2 "comic" books, they aren't that good.
  • And a small little student news paper.
I wish I took a picture of the singe sack that I put all the free stuff in. It was crazy full. But I did get a picture of all the stuff when I took it out of my bag. Here it is.
Lot of free stuff. Obviously some stuff is buried under other stuff. Well that was my fun time at Lots of Free Crap Bash. Well I need to get back to cleaning it up. Until next time, this has been Pokematic signing off and bu bye.

Mr College man full week

Hey everyone, after a week of fall welcome stuff, it is finally the weekend. If you have been following your3minutes, you know what the week has been like. But here is all of them. And disregard the blog before this. So lets start.

8/29/11
Hey everyone, I just moved into my room today. We stayed overnight at a hotel that's close to my college. We packed up everything, and hulled away to school.

So we start bringing my stuff up after I check in. I will give a full room tour later. Well unpacking was a bit of a hassle. My grandparents tried to help but just got in the way a bit, god bless them. Well we said our goodbyes and it was a bit hard. I'm getting a bit choked up right now as I write while I remember.

So now we have some get to know each other activities. I can't remember all of them at the moment. We saw some things and got to know each other.
8/30/11

More orientation. I first woke up to early. We saw where some places were and then had free time. I watched star wars robot chicken 3. Very funny. Then there was dinner and a meet and greet thing. I met new people, somewhat. But then after that I found some high school people. I know the point is to meet new people, but that's now how I tend to make friends. Normally it's become friends of my current friends, and get to know people I kind of know from a forced situation, like school. We all decided that at some point we all need to ride the train back home together. Well until later.

8/31/11
Today was a ceremony where we saw all the deans and people. We then had pizza with the profs, where we had pizza lunch with professors from our college. We had a presentation where we learned basic etiquette for professionalism. There was then this thing where a bunch of clubs and organizations let us know about what they do. I looked into this safe driving thing where we give students rides anywhere within the community for free. I might even be the it guy. Then there was this play thing called risky business where they told us all about dangerous things and how to handle them. The part that sticks out in my mind was the parody of "fuck/forget you" addressing safe sex. It was funny. Then we did an unofficial get to know and bonding activity with my group. Until tomorrow.

9/1/11
Today was crazy. Absolutely crazy. First I'll start off with the beginning. We first had this diversity thing, play that had a bunch of different people and their stereotype. The closest thing they came to representing white people was with the "redneck." With all the diversity stuff I get fed, not once do I see white people. We are people too, and we face adversity, some times. But truly, if you want diversity, have white people in addition to all the other races. They get all the politically correct terms on standardized test things; "Latino American," "African American," "Pacific Islander," ect. What do we get? White. Not Caucasian, white.

Annoyed white guy done now, time to talk about lunch, ish. It was like this sampling of all these different places around campus and student organizations. I sampled a fair amount of the food. Probably should have had something more substantial, but oh well.

The evolution of dance guy came today and gave us a presentation. It was really good.

9/2/11
Today hasn't really been my day, but it had it's good points. Well for starters I forgot my cell phone in my room in the morning. Now I wan't woried about not having my life line with me, I was just worried that it fell out of my pocket, because it has happened before. It just caused some stress.

Now for the big thing. Today was the last day of fall welcome, and we had one last speaker. He was a good speaker and all and very powerful and passionate, but full of lies for me personally. For starters his big thing that he will teach everyone to juggle. I have tried to learn to juggle, and I never really got beyond the scarfs, or the second ball, or first for that matter. I have horrible sports coordination, so bad that 99.99999999999999999999999% of the time I drop the ball when people toss me one. Then when I don't drop it I full body catch it, not just one handed. So yeah, can't juggle, and quite frankly I don't care.

I did see bridesmaids for free at a public screening. Very funny movie.

Throughout. It is really hot. Super hot. Hate the heat. This experience reminds me sortof like a camp thing. Only difference, I don't go home after the week is over.
