English 2nd Semester fear

Hey everyone, because of the snow day, it's time for a new blog post. I will likely turn this into a video later on, but here is a text review of my predictions for second semester English.

First semester started and things weren't super great. We had to write a speech on how our summer reading book changed our life. I read "Tom Sayer," and that book didn't affect me at all. Still a good book, just no life changing. I still wrote an amazing speech and had it not been for my pacing, I would have gotten a perfect on it. But the other books and units were good. "One Flew Over the Coocoos Nest" was really interesting, and the only 2 symbols were blatantly obvious. The assignments were decent as well. Then there was "Things They Carried." While the book was a war protest novel, it was a bazillion times better than "Johnny Got His Gun." Mainly because it was written in complete sentences and wasn't random. There also wasn't any symbols. Everything we did was plot based. We also had this assignment were we had to teach a section of the novel to the class. That was cool, and we had to incorporate a movie clip. Most people, including myself, used "Forest Gump" for their clip. We almost saw the whole movie by the time that unit was done. There was also a media unit. It seems like every year in high school we did a media unit in English. Not sure how that fits into English, but we get to watch reality TV. First semester was good English wise. It gave me faith in English class again. Click here for my English rant.

But now in second semester, things are starting to look grim. We are reading "A Streetcar Named Desire," and it is heavy in symbols. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
English was just starting to be cool again. My faith was revived, but now it is under attack again.
Why? WHY? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????????????????
Maybe this is just a fluke. Maybe the rest of the year will be good. Only time will tell.
So long everyone.
